ABSOLUTLABS · APP PRIVACY
Privacy policy
What stays on your device, which optional services connect to the internet, and the choices you have.
Last updated
Read the section for your app. AstroLab keeps sky calculations, preferences, motion and camera preview on your iPhone; optional location-name lookup and ISS requests connect to external services. TDJ processes music locally with no ads or in-app purchases. Google advertising and StoreKit upgrades described here apply only to Turntable Classic. Contacting support, visiting our pages and using Apple’s services involve the separate processing explained below.
01Who we are
This shared policy covers Absolutlabs apps that link to it and our privacy and support pages. The app-specific sections describe AstroLab for iPhone, Turntable Classic and Turntable TDJ for iPad; each feature description applies only to the app named. SOURC3 SAS is the publisher and the controller for the processing it determines in connection with the app and user support.

AstroLab, Turntable Classic and TDJ do not require an app account. The common sections on support, website operation and your rights apply across our apps that link here. Contact us if you need information about an app or feature not listed on this page.
AstroLab
AstroLab is an iPhone planetarium with no app account, advertising, analytics SDK, in-app purchase or subscription. It does not send your favorites, sensor readings or camera images to SOURC3. The star catalog and sky-position calculations work on the device.
Location, motion and local settings
With your permission, the app uses your current location to calculate the visible sky and align pointing with true north. You can instead enter an observing site manually. The last site (coordinates, elevation and displayed name), favorites and display preferences are saved locally. Compass and motion readings orient the map while you use pointing; AstroLab does not create or upload a movement history.
When an accepted GPS location is used to look up a place name, AstroLab calls Apple’s reverse-geocoding service (CLGeocoder). The coordinates are sent to Apple for this name lookup. This request is separate from the local sky calculations. A manually entered site does not trigger this lookup. Apple also operates iOS Location Services under your device settings and its Location Services privacy notice.
Optional live ISS position
Enabling the ISS requests its current orbital position from api.wheretheiss.at. The app does not send your observing coordinates, favorites or an advertising identifier in this request; the direction from your site is calculated locally. As with any internet request, the service and its hosting providers receive your connection’s IP address and technical request information. This technical processing is outside the local sky calculation, and is subject to the provider’s practices. See the Where the ISS at service documentation. Turning the ISS off stops further requests for this feature.
Optional rear-camera preview
The camera permission is requested only when you select camera mode. The rear camera supplies a live background behind the sky overlay. AstroLab does not save, record, upload or analyze these images, and does not capture audio or request microphone access. The preview pauses when the app enters the background. You can stop it or use the virtual map without camera permission.
Your controls and retention
Change camera, location and motion permissions in iOS Settings. You can use a manual site, leave pointing, turn the camera off or disable the ISS. Remove favorites individually or change your site in the app. Deleting AstroLab removes its local settings and favorites; offloading it retains its data. Device backups follow your own Apple settings. SOURC3 cannot remotely retrieve or erase data stored only on your iPhone.
Apple handles App Store downloads and may provide its standard diagnostic or aggregate reports according to the service and your Apple settings; this is separate from AstroLab’s local features. See Apple’s App Store privacy notice. Email and website use are covered by the common sections below.
Turntable TDJ
TDJ is a paid app with no advertising, in-app purchases, subscription or Turntable account. It does not include an advertising, tracking or third-party analytics SDK. The app does not send your music, library or performance data to SOURC3.
Audio files, metadata, artwork, waveform and BPM analysis are processed on your iPad. Cue points, hot cues, memory cues, loop boundaries, beat-grid adjustments and preferences are saved in the app’s local storage. TDJ does not use the iPad’s movement sensors. The Google advertising, Needle Skip and StoreKit upgrade features described for Classic do not apply to TDJ.
Music-library access is optional. You can use Files or the bundled demo without granting it. A cloud file provider may download your selected file; device and cloud backups follow your own settings and the provider’s rules. Deleting TDJ through iPadOS removes its local library, saved cues and settings; offloading it retains its data. Original audio files and backups are managed separately. SOURC3 cannot retrieve or erase this local library remotely.
Apple handles the initial App Store purchase and may provide the publisher with its standard sales, diagnostic or aggregate usage reports, depending on the service and your Apple settings. This is separate from TDJ’s local audio processing. See Apple’s App Store privacy notice.
The common sections on contacting SOURC3, support-message retention, website operation, security and your rights also apply to TDJ. Emailing support or opening this website sends information outside the app as explained below. TDJ itself does not collect data for those purposes.
02Turntable: local music processing
- Music and library: the files you select are copied into the app’s private storage. Titles, artists, album details, artwork, duration and an audio-file fingerprint used to detect duplicates are stored with the library. Audio processing, BPM analysis and waveform generation take place on the device.
- Preferences and controls: vinyl appearance, playback options and the information needed to operate the deck are processed locally.
- Motion (Classic only): if you enable Needle Skip, movement measurements are used on the device to simulate the needle jumping. Turntable does not send these measurements to SOURC3 or Google.
Turntable Classic and TDJ do not request microphone or precise-location access. Access to your Music library is optional and requires the iPadOS permission. If you decline, you can still import a file using the Files picker. Files supplied by iCloud Drive or another provider, and device backups, remain subject to that provider’s services and your settings.
These operations provide the playback and mixing functions you request (performance of the service, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where applicable). Optional permissions and features remain under your control.
03External services
Classic only: advertising and privacy choices — Google
The ad-supported version of Turntable Classic uses Google AdMob and Google’s User Messaging Platform to display ads and manage applicable privacy choices. Depending on your choices and the operating context, Google may process your IP address and approximate location, app- or publisher-scoped device identifiers, information about ads and interactions, and crash, diagnostic and performance data. Privacy-choice records are also processed to remember and apply your choices.
These data support ad delivery, measurement, service operation and fraud prevention, and, where permitted by your choices, ad personalisation. Processing that requires your consent relies on that consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Where consent is required, the relevant choices are requested before advertising requests are permitted. Refusing consent does not prevent music playback; it may result in limited or non-personalised ads, or no available ads. A non-personalised ad does not mean that no technical data is processed.
This version does not request Apple’s tracking authorisation or access to the IDFA advertising identifier. This does not eliminate the other identifiers or data processed by Google. Turntable does not provide Google with the contents of your music library.
Google acts as an independent controller for its advertising services. Its notices explain its own purposes, legal bases and partners: Google Privacy Policy and how Google uses data from partner apps. Applicable vendors and purposes are also described in the advertising privacy interface.
In-app purchases (Classic only) — Apple
Apple handles payment and App Store transactions. Turntable Classic uses StoreKit to read verified product and transaction information, enable purchased features, restore purchases and recognise revocations or refunds. SOURC3 does not receive your payment-card details through the app. This processing is needed to deliver and maintain your purchase (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR). Apple processes its own account, payment and purchase data under its App Store privacy notice.
Contacting SOURC3
If you email us, we receive your email address, your message and any details or attachments you choose to provide. Authorised staff and the providers needed to handle the message may access them to answer your request. This relies on performance of the service for contractual support, our legitimate interest in responding to other enquiries, or our legal obligations for data-rights requests (Articles 6(1)(b), (f) or (c) GDPR, as applicable).
04Your choices
- Advertising (Classic only): open the deck settings using the 45 RPM adapter, then choose Ad privacy in Controls when that option is required and available. You can review the relevant choices and withdraw consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before it.
- Ad-free purchases (Classic only): once a purchase that removes ads is recognised, the app stops requesting new ads and showing them. This does not automatically erase data already held by Google or Apple.
- Music, and motion in Classic: change the app’s permissions in iPadOS Settings and, in Classic, disable Needle Skip in the app whenever you wish.
- AstroLab: location, motion, camera and ISS controls are described in its section.
- Turntable local data: deleting the app through iPadOS removes its local library and preferences. Offloading the app retains its data. Ejecting a record from the turntable does not delete the imported track. Original files and any device or cloud backups are managed separately through the relevant service.
05Retention and security
In Turntable, imported tracks, their library information and preferences remain in the app’s storage while you keep that data. AstroLab’s saved site, favorites and display settings likewise remain locally until changed or removed; its camera preview and motion readings are not saved as a recording or history. Temporary audio preparation files are released as they are no longer needed; the operating system may also clean temporary storage. Device backups may retain copies according to your backup settings.
Support messages are kept for the time needed to handle the enquiry and necessary follow-up. Where a legal requirement or a dispute justifies further retention, access is limited and retention is based on that requirement or the applicable limitation period. Google and Apple apply their own retention rules to data under their control: Google data retention and Apple Privacy Policy.
We use the platform’s app-storage protections and restrict access to support information to what is needed for its handling. No storage or transmission method can guarantee absolute security.
06Recipients and international transfers
Recipients depend on the function you use: SOURC3’s authorised staff and its necessary technical providers for support and website operation; Google and its applicable advertising partners for Classic ads and consent; Apple for App Store services and AstroLab’s optional place-name lookup; Where the ISS at and its hosting providers for AstroLab’s optional ISS requests; and competent authorities where disclosure is legally required.
These providers may process data outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Applicable safeguards may include adequacy decisions or standard contractual clauses, depending on the provider and transfer. The providers describe their arrangements in Google’s transfer framework information and the Apple Privacy Policy. You may contact us for information about transfers for which SOURC3 is responsible and how to obtain the relevant safeguards.
07Your rights
Where the relevant legal conditions apply, you may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability of your personal data, and object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may withdraw consent at any time. You may also provide instructions concerning your personal data after death under French law.
Write to contact@sourc3.com. We may request information necessary to verify your identity and locate the relevant data. We normally respond within one month; if a legally permitted extension is necessary, we will explain it within that first month. SOURC3 cannot remotely retrieve or erase a library or app settings stored only on your device.
You may complain to the French data protection authority, the CNIL, or the competent authority where you live or work. For data controlled independently by Google or Apple, you can also use the privacy tools and contacts in their notices.
08Children
Turntable Classic is a DJ tool and is not specifically designed for children. The app does not ask for a date of birth or operate an age-verification service. If you are a parent or guardian and have a concern about a child’s personal data in connection with the app, contact us so we can assess the situation and the appropriate action.
09This page and policy updates
This page does not add advertising, audience analytics, third-party fonts or tracking cookies. Its language selector does not save a browser identifier. Visiting the page nevertheless sends technical information, such as your IP address, requested URL, browser information and request time, to the hosting service. Such information may be processed to deliver and secure the website, based on the legitimate interest in operating a reliable service, for the period needed for those purposes and any applicable legal requirement.
