AstroLab
AstroLab is a planetarium for iPhone with iOS 17 or later, in portrait orientation. It supports English and French, with no app account, ads or in-app purchases.
Choose the right sky
Open Settings → Use my location, or choose a location manually. Paris is the initial fallback; check the displayed place and time before observing. The star catalog, constellations, planets and deep-sky objects work offline. Search accepts names in English or French and references such as M31 or NGC7000.
Point and find an object
Enable Point and aim the back of your iPhone toward the sky. In Explore, open an object and choose Locate in the sky. Pointing remains active: follow the arrow and angular separation until the marker is in view. The guide indicates a target behind you or below the horizon. A constellation target points toward its center. Stop guidance leaves pointing active; Explore switches to the manual map, where Locate recenters the view.
Camera background
The optional camera mode displays the rear-camera preview behind the sky overlay. Allow camera access when asked. The app does not record images or audio. If permission is denied or the camera is unavailable, continue with the virtual map; you can change permission in iOS Settings. Camera mode does not identify stars from images. Alignment depends on the phone’s sensors and calibration.
The sky looks misaligned
Check the observing place, date and time. Allow location access for true north; otherwise a magnetic-north warning may appear. Keep magnetic cases, magnets and metal objects away, and gently move the phone in a figure eight if calibration is requested. Use portrait orientation. Dragging and zooming are available in manual exploration. An object below the horizon is not currently visible from that site.
Tonight, dates and the ISS
Tonight uses 10 PM in your device’s time zone for the selected observing site. Changing the site does not change that time zone. Use Live to change the date, or Now to return to the present. The optional ISS layer requires an internet connection and live time; refresh it in Settings. Its marker is removed after 60 seconds or a failed update. AstroLab does not predict passes, and an ISS position above the horizon does not guarantee visibility.
Favorites and privacy
Use the bookmark on an object’s details to add or remove a favorite. Favorites, display settings and the last observing site are stored locally. Deleting the app removes that local data; offloading it preserves the data. See AstroLab’s privacy section for Apple’s location-name lookup, the optional ISS request and the local camera preview.
The map is a guide: atmosphere, terrain, weather and light pollution are not simulated. Deep-sky objects are symbolic and may require binoculars or a telescope. Never observe the Sun through an optical instrument without a suitable solar filter.
Email contact@sourc3.com with the iPhone model, iOS and AstroLab versions, selected mode, and the steps that caused the problem. A screenshot is optional; remove personal information and precise coordinates first.
Turntable TDJ
TDJ is a single digital DJ deck for iPad, in portrait orientation, with iPadOS 17 or later. All features are included in the initial purchase. There are no ads, in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Load your first track
Tap LOAD → DEMO for Paraffine by Nuts, then press PLAY. Use FILES for your own MP3, M4A, WAV, AIFF or FLAC files, or MUSIC for compatible personal tracks stored on the iPad. Protected Apple Music subscription tracks and streaming services cannot be imported. The load lock asks you to pause before replacing a playing track.
Scratch, backspin and release
In VINYL mode, hold and move the centre of the jog to scratch. The rim makes temporary tempo corrections. In CD mode, the jog nudges during playback and searches while paused. TOUCH/BRAKE sets how quickly the sound stops; RELEASE/START sets its return to normal speed. At zero, the response is immediate. JOG FEEL sets the wheel’s separate resistance. A firm throw can keep a backspin going for about 10–15 seconds at LIGHT; an ordinary scratch resumes when you let go, using RELEASE/START.
Cues, loops and jumps
REC saves or replaces a hot cue; PLAY recalls it. A–C are on the deck and A–H are available from HOT CUE on the main display. SHIFT + pad deletes a cue. IN and OUT set a loop. Tap OUT again, then turn the jog anticlockwise to shorten the loop or clockwise to extend it; SHIFT makes this adjustment finer.
AUTO LOOP repeats the selected length. BEAT JUMP moves once by that many beats and continues, leaving any active loop. SHIFT changes the 1, 2, 4 and 8 buttons to 1/2, 1/4, 1/8 and 1/16 beat respectively. SLIP keeps track of where playback would have reached during a scratch, loop or held hot cue, then returns there when the gesture ends.
Touch effects
FX opens the drawer. Choose LPF, HPF, Echo, Delay, Reverb, Flanger, Roll or Gate, then move on the XY pad. Both axes show the parameter they control. Release to return to the dry sound, or use HOLD to keep the last setting. CLOSE, pause and changing effects cancel HOLD. Only one effect runs at a time.
Find the guide again
Open Settings → Replay tutorial. You can also choose not to show it at launch. The guide does not start playback. Track cues, loops and grid settings are saved locally, separately from Classic.
Sound or loading trouble
Check the iPad volume and audio output, try the demo, then another compatible file. Use a wired output for scratch practice; Bluetooth adds delay. Allow enough free storage for the imported file and prepared audio. Playback pauses when the app leaves the foreground or the audio output disconnects.
For help, email contact@sourc3.com with “Turntable TDJ”, your iPad model, iPadOS and app versions, and the steps that caused the problem. Apple handles refund requests. Our shared privacy policy has a dedicated TDJ section.
Turntable Classic
01Your first spin
Turntable Classic is a single DJ deck for iPad, running iPadOS 17 or later. Tap load track, choose Demo to try the original demo track, make sure the deck is switched on and press start · stop.
To mix two decks through an external mixer, use one iPad per deck and connect each audio output to a separate mixer input. A suitable wired audio adapter is needed on iPads without a headphone jack. The app does not contain a second deck or a mixer.
02Bring your own records
Open load track → Files to import compatible audio, such as MP3, unprotected AAC or WAV. A file stored in a cloud service may need to download first.
The Music source can import personal tracks that are available locally, unprotected and accessible to the app after you grant permission. Appearing in the Music library does not guarantee a track can be imported.
Apple Music subscription tracks, Spotify and Deezer streaming are not supported. Downloading a protected subscription track does not turn it into an importable audio file.
Titles, artists and artwork come from the file’s metadata when available. An automatic BPM estimate can occasionally detect half or double the tempo.
03Hands on the deck
- Scratch: hold the record and move your finger around its centre. Release it to let it pick up speed.
- Nudge: touch or slide along the dotted platter rim to make a small, temporary speed correction.
- Pitch: move the slider. Tap its small LED to return to zero. Enable key lock to preserve musical pitch while changing tempo.
- Tonearm: drag the cartridge to move through the track. The lever near the arm’s base lifts the stylus and pauses the music while the platter keeps turning.
- Eject: pinch inward on the record with two fingers. Your imported track stays in the library.
- Settings: tap the small round 45 rpm adapter at the top left to find vinyl finishes and deck options.
Switching the power off lets the platter coast down. The start · stop button brakes it more quickly, just as you would expect from the two different controls.
04Sound & long tracks
If there is no sound, check the iPad volume, selected audio output, deck power and start button, and make sure the tonearm is lowered onto the record. Playback pauses when you leave the app or disconnect the audio output.
For DJ use, a wired output avoids the additional delay of Bluetooth. The app uses the audio route selected by iPadOS.
Long tracks are prepared progressively using temporary disk storage. Leave enough free storage for the imported file and its prepared audio; a two-hour stereo track at 44.1 kHz requires roughly 1.3 GB of temporary space, in addition to the imported file. Higher sample rates need more space. Loading time depends on the file and your iPad.
If a track will not load, try the built-in demo, then another compatible file. When contacting us, include the error message, file format and track duration. You do not need to send the music file.
05Ads & purchases
The black record is included. Two optional one-time purchases are available: No Ads, or the Vinyl Pack, which adds white, red, blue and transparent records and also removes ads. They are not subscriptions. The App Store displays the price for your region before purchase.
To recover a purchase, open the vinyl settings and tap Restore purchases while signed in to the Apple Account used for the purchase. An internet connection may be required. If it still does not appear, contact us with the product name and what you see on screen; please do not send payment details.
In the ad-supported version, an ad may appear at launch or when loading a track. Your track is prepared during the ad. Once it closes, the track is ready or the remaining preparation progress is shown. The ad has its own close control. Available advertising privacy options can be reopened in the app’s settings.
Apple handles payments and refund requests: request a refund from Apple.
06Your music stays yours
Imported files are stored in Turntable Classic’s local library. Ejecting a record does not delete its library entry. This version does not yet offer individual deletion of imported tracks.
Deleting the app removes its local library and settings. Offloading the app keeps its documents and data. Original files outside Turntable Classic and device backups are managed separately.
